Our Club & Our PresidentUpdated Tuesday May 22, 2018 by HARB SOCCER CLUB.
A little over 5 years ago, the High School Principal at the time really wanted to have a successful high school program. Unfortunately, many of the Haborfields kids were already going to the Northport Recreation Center and being recruited by other outside clubs – including one of the clubs I coached for – and thereby destroying any hope a Harborfields school program. At the time, I was training his daughter on one of my teams, the HBC Kosmos Fire. Over the years, the team flourished, and he watched us win multiple state and regional premier championships, multiple college showcase championships, and a national president’s cup championship. In addition to the HBC Kosmos Fire, I trained many other teams, including the Northport Mustangs, the Northport Blue Meanies, the Northport Titans, the East Meadow Eagles, the East Meadow (NPL) Stingrays, the East Meadow Freedom, and the HBC Tornadoes (Jose Alfaro’s sister played for me here). Those teams also won multiple championships and had many players earn college scholarships. After getting to know me personally, my work ethic, and commitment, he approached me and asked me to come in and start a program. After giving it some serious thought, I accepted the challenge and we have been working hard to attract members of the community to join us.
As for my soccer credentials, I have National, Advanced National, Premier National, US Youth National, and DOC licenses. I was an ODP & Developmental trainer for about 10 years. As a player, I was the captain for St. Anthony’s HS in South Huntington. I was an ODP player and split my college playing career between High Point U and the U of Scranton. In addition to coaching, I am also a certified Math teacher. I have a BA and MA in Education, and a MA in School District and School Building Leadership.
